Poetic Instability for times of poetry lack; Instabilidade Poética para tempos desprovidos de poesia

Suely Rolnik, on the divine text "Therapeutics for times of poetry lack", one amongst the many produced by her at the Subjectivity Studies Center (PUC-SP), talks about the work of Lygia Clark:
[...]Lygia is not the only one to understand health as the ability to create. Among psychoanalysts, for example, she has by her side names like Winnicott, which by the way she was particularly fond of. For the English psychoanalyst, a favorable human development has to do precisely with this ability to relate to the world in a creative way: this is what would give meaning to existence, anchoring the feeling that life is worth living. A kind of 'poetic health'. [...]

The insight that 'poetry' is fundamental not only for my health, but for the well-being of every human being in the world, hit me around 2007, when I began to deal more directly with educators and 'healers'. This intuition led me to build the idea of Poetic Instability, which is materialized in the Flymoon®. This intuition continues to guide me through paths, readings and discoveries. I feel like I'm in very good company with the thoughts of people like Lygia Clark, Winnicott, Suely Rolnik, Susi Martinelli and many scholars in research groups in Brazil and around the world, who understand and defend the poetry in our lives.

Bays, cradles, balustrades, swings, beaches and tides / Baías, berços, balaustradas, balanços, praias e marés

Walking around my city, seeing the "bays" on every beach - at the fishermen beach, at the Paciência Beach, at the Buracão Beach, in Rio Vermelho neighborhood, at the Porto da Barra beach - all concave, rounded, cozy, welcoming, inviting as cradles; watching the boats and their swing on the gentle tide of this protected sea, it suddenly became so obvious and made so much sense that the Flymoon® was born here. "Of course!", I suddenly thought. It had to be a Bahian invention, it had to be with the Bahia sea swing, it had to be cozy, colorful and unstable as the city of Salvador.
It goes to the world, connects with the poetry of the moon and takes off the floor. However, it has roots.

About the hidden obvious and the baptism of Flymoon® / Sobre o óbvio oculto e o batismo da Flymoon®

According to Stephen Nachmanovitch (1993)
"Many of the major scientific, artistic and spiritual discoveries were actually revealing a surprising truism that no one so far had managed to see or imagine because they were all too frightened or too attached to traditional thinking."
Inspired by the swing, by the passion for everything that takes me off the floor, by the possibility of playing physically and symbolically with gravity, in 2001, on my research about movement in the Pilates studio and on the rehearsals of Ideias de Teto, I reversed the Half Moon, then supported its convex face on the floor and teased the instability that would completely change my life.
I wasn't able to find any records that this reversal had been tested before by any follower or practitioner of Pilates technique and not even by himself, which caused me great surprise, because at that time such use seemed so obvious, that I had no idea of the size of the novelty that was arising.
The new use made of the Half Moon already indicated the rise of something new. Conceptually, it had changed its purpose, it was no longer the same Half Moon. I started to call that new idea "reversed Half Moon" until, with the conceptual, methodological, material and commercial development that invention began to demand, Cláudio Soares (partner in this construction) suggested the name Flying Moon. I really liked it, but it still needed to be leaner and simpler, as the arc itself. I suggested Flymoon, one word only, with a poetic license to English grammar. And then we decided to leave it like this.
What was not predictable at the time was how much this invention would synthesize and symbolize everything that moves me and interests me; how much of a 'key' for new discoveries of my past and future choices it would mean; how much aggregating it would be to so many environments and so many professionals, who meet each other because of the movement.

Segundo Stephen Nachmanovitch
(1993)

Losing ground: instability as an opportunity to reset the perception / Perder o chão: instabilidade como oportunidade de reconfigurar a percepção

"The sensorial information are able to unleash, especially in the marrow and in the vestibular nuclei, very fast unconscious mechanisms that will act in the spinal cord motor neurons, promoting the necessary adjustments. Only then we can produce almost immediate compensations that allow us to maintain balance in situations of great instability and when the surrounding conditions change abruptly. " (CORREIA, 2012. p. 79)
Instability is the motivating strategy of movement. "Losing ground" is losing control and, although scary, it is also an opportunity to reset parameters, to rebuild motor paths, to explore the neuronal plasticity, which also means seeing the world in other ways, discard prejudices and become more flexible.
